As a Founder, I’ve been with Apriori Beauty from the beginning, before there were even any products! I’ve not only been able to see this Company expand and develop, but have also seen the change in myself as well, both personally and professionally. Over the past few years, I have come to learn a lot of successful business tips, all which have been instrumental in growing and maintaining a steady retail business.

So much of this business is relationship building, and as a people person, I thrive off of meeting new people and hearing their stories. Whether I’m developing a personal relationship or sharing something I love about Apriori Beauty, the first step in getting there is to just start the conversation. Instead of pre-judging those I come across, I look at everyone as an opportunity, who I can talk and share Apriori Beauty with. With this mindset, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain! It’s common for me to introduce myself to strangers just about everywhere I go and I like to begin every conversation with a compliment. Who doesn’t love hearing something nice about themselves? I know I do, plus it poses as a natural segue into skincare and health. When meeting and talking to others, you first need to be confident and believe in yourself. You wouldn’t be interested in learning about and purchasing products from someone who appeared to doubt what they were saying, would you? Of course not, which is why it’s imperative you not only know what you’re talking about, but also believe in it 100% (easy to do when sharing Apriori Beauty).

As if starting the conversation isn’t daunting enough for some, I’ve heard a lot of people ask, “what do I say?” when speaking with new and potential Clients. If I’m meeting someone for the first time, I share a product that relates to our conversation. For example, if it’s flu season, then I focus on our incredible Lifeoxylin® Cellular Defense Elixir. If the weather is changing (hot to cold / cold to hot), I introduce the Celloxylin® Enzyme Activated Micro Scrub and Hydro-Burst Moisture Intense Lotion. For every conversation topic, you’re likely to find a product you can bring up in the conversation. When I’m sitting down with a new Client, I make a point to pull out my Apriori Beauty catalog and go through it with them, showing the various products and benefits each product provides. If you’re stumped for words or unsure of how to introduce the products into your conversation, rely on your own personal experiences with Apriori Beauty. Your best selling point is your testimonial. People can hear lists of ingredients and facts, but when it comes down to it, they want to know why you use and love Apriori Beauty and what it’s done for you.

If someone brushes you off or says they’re not interested, don’t take it personally. Chances are, they’re saying “no” because they’re unsure of switching skincare or possibly unaware of the many benefits Apriori Beauty can provide their skin, health, and even financial situation. Don’t let their “no” paralyze you. Instead, make a note to reach out to them in a month or two and casually bring up Apriori Beauty into the conversation. People’s lives and situations change and it’s possible that whereas last month wasn’t right for them, they’re now in a different place and open to hearing about and trying Apriori Beauty.
Regardless of how and where you share Apriori Beauty, always be consistent. I’m committed to sharing at least one product sample a day and following up 3 days later. In addition, referrals have played a significant role in gaining new Clients. I always ask for referrals because networking is the key to success. I love to reward my Clients; they’re the foundation of my business. I offer Clients a $25 gift card for every referral of theirs that places an order of $100 or more. Clients are my priority and I check in with them frequently by sending out personal ‘Thank You’ cards or sometimes a gift card for being a loyal Client. I appreciate their continuous support and love for the products. Without them, I wouldn’t have a business.

On days where you’re feeling unmotivated to work your business, keep in the mind the weekly paycheck and additional perks you can receive just by talking about Apriori Beauty with someone new. I love getting paid every Friday. It’s rewarding because it allows me to help support my family and do extra special things for my kids. Last year, I surprised my three boys and husband with a trip to Hawaii, which was funded by my Apriori Beauty income. I look forward to treating them to another fun activity this spring. Along with being able to surprise my family with gifts, my Apriori Beauty retail business has become a steady income, where I’m able to be there for my family without working long hours. Having the freedom to make my own hours is ideal because I have three active boys, whom I’m constantly driving to sports games and practices. I love what I do and I love sharing Apriori Beauty with others. I’ve hosted Beauty Bars out of my car at football games and even at the airport. This business allows me to share anywhere, anytime. I feel blessed to be part of this incredible Company and am excited to introduce it to even more people!

My journey with Apriori Beauty began in 2013 when I was a Business Consultant. I was at a networking event when I met one of the most beautiful woman I’ve ever come across before. Her name was Jami Taguchi and she was presenting Apriori Beauty’s Celloxylin® Derma Firm Illuminator. After years of being involved in the holistic health care industry, I knew the use of the ultra-sound was an effective anti-aging device that held no competition. We became friends and I was left with an impression of Apriori Beauty. Months later, I decided to become an Apriori Beauty Consultant with only having used the samples Jami had given me. I loved the natural skincare, saw the results first-hand in Jami, and knew being a Consultant would impact my life somehow. I was going through a difficult time and kept feeling as if God was telling me to call Jami and sign up as a Consultant. So, I listened and reached out to Jami. I was upfront with Jami and told her how I felt compelled to become a Consultant. When I mentioned that feeling, she said she had just prayed for leaders to join her team. This was intriguing because I didn’t want to sell another direct sales line, much less another skincare line, yet I knew there was something else meant for me when I became a Consultant. I wasn’t ready to push or follow any other guidance for quite some time. For nearly two years, my business was dormant. I would occasionally give out samples but my follow-up was often inconsistent. Instead of stressing and getting down on myself, I acted in complete faith and friendship.

Fast forward to November of 2014, I became an Esthetician and started a new career as an Independent Contractor at Body Wellness Spa in Orange, California, naming my business Swallowtail Skin Therapies, which is especially symbolic for me. Whether I’m giving facials or body treatments, I’m always introducing my spa clients to Apriori Beauty, with my favorites being the Celloxylin® Enzyme Activated Micro Scrub and Lifeoxylin® Cellular Defense Elixir. I’ve worked with numerous cosmetic lines and there is nothing as effective and reasonably priced as Apriori Beauty. I take each session as an opportunity to educate my clients on the benefits Apriori Beauty holds for their skin and health. For example, when speaking about the Enzyme Activated Micro Scrub, I relay to my clients that as sugar releases oxygen, a chemical reaction, the oxygen then kills the bacteria in the skin (i.e. black heads, white heads, and pimples). In addition, the granulated sugar is the perfect size and shape to effectively scrub off layers of dead skin cells, while the enzymes eat away the bacteria from the skin’s surface. Women will pay well over $100 for one exfoliating treatment when they can get three exfoliating treatments in one $38 product that will last them months!

Along with the Micro Scrub, I love recommending the Lifeoxylin® Cellular Defense Elixir because it creates an internal sunscreen. Topical sunscreens (besides the incredible Celloxylin® Day Defense Plus, Broad Spectrum SPF 25) are toxic and not nearly as effective as our skin needs them to be. So many people aren’t aware that topical sunscreens are toxic and must be reapplied every two hours for maximum effectiveness. As an Esthetician who sees the dangerous effects of skin damage on a daily basis, I’m constantly educating my clients on quick and simple ways they can prevent it. Here in Southern California, we’re constantly doing activities outside in the sun, exposing our skin to the harsh UVA and UVB rays. My clients (which consist of runners, cyclists, surfers, and moms who spend a lot of time outside playing with their kids), may be healthy internally, but the effects from the sun are harming their skin. I see excessive dark spots, premature fine lines, and dried skin lacking hydration. Just by drinking 1 ounce of the Cellular Defense Elixir daily, these skin issues can easily be prevented. We all know it’s no fun stopping a child from playing to reapply sunscreen, which is why I recommend the Elixir. If you asked me how I maintain consistent Client sales, I would tell you it requires consistent conversation. I network my business and set myself apart from other estheticians by being a Holistic Esthetician. I describe my holistic modalities, product lines, and why I chose the less popular holistic route instead of a higher-end brand. After each facial, every spa client of mine is gifted with Apriori Beauty samples and product recommendations for their skin type. I register my facial clients as Apriori Beauty Clients and send them a quick email, relaying again my recommendations and letting them know I’m available if they have any questions. For those who indicate finances are tight, I immediately share Apriori Beauty’s Opportunity, informing them about the rebates they can receive just by purchasing products for themselves. Plus, since the $49 Starter Kit comes with a free Celloxylin® Pure Detox, Purifying Masque (retail value of $44), I mention all the benefits the masque can provide for their skin. They’re not only treating their skin to safe and effective products, but they’re also staying within their budget too!

These are the actions I take as a business owner, but know that there is no perfect method for growing your business. As long as your intention is clear, you can find a hundred ways to make it happen. Some months I have more facial clients and fewer sales. Other months, I receive commission only on my own purchases, and sometimes I have great sales and fewer clients. Every month is different. Regardless, retailing offers so many benefits to my esthetic practice. Clients are available to listen and are open to sampling products because they’ve seen the results from our spa sessions. Layering the conversation, staying consistent with my services, and providing recommendations have all contributed to my successful clientele base. And, letting God be God has taken a lot of pressure off of me. Pressure can hinder sales, Clients, and financial goals. I’m able to do my part in sharing and taking responsibility for my business, and letting God do the rest. As I’m continuously transforming as a person and business owner, my Apriori Beauty business is always ever changing and thriving because that’s my intention. As you intend it, you will create it.

Maybe it was law of attraction because I wasn’t actively looking for a direct sales company when I found out about Apriori Beauty. In the back of my mind, I had been quietly thinking about what I wanted to do once I retired from my current profession of teaching diabetes education and nutrition. I knew I wanted to keep working with a good salary, but it needed to be on my schedule. It all started in the summer of 2013 when I joined Sharon Michaels’ MasterMind group. I had never heard of Sharon Michaels but frustrated with my own productivity at work and in need of a business coach and mentor, I took a chance. It was through the group and Sharon that I was introduced to Apriori Beauty and my future Consultant sponsor, Elizabeth (Liz) Dyke.

When I first heard of Apriori Beauty, I was so fascinated by its name that I immediately looked it up online and was taken to this beautiful website of anti-aging skincare. As someone who’s aging and wants to slow down the process, I was intrigued. Struggling with all the skin problems you often experience postmenopausal, I tried many high-end skincare lines but never found myself impressed with any of them. I reached out to Liz, who then sent me the Celloxylin® 6-strip skincare sample and a sample of the Celloxylin® Enzyme Activated Micro Scrub, recommending I combine the Crème Cleanse with the Micro Scrub. Upon sampling the products, it was in love right away. It was like being at a spa right in my own bathroom! I just had to know more about these products. After chatting with Liz, I decided to become an Apriori Beauty Independent Consultant to start building my own business.

I work full-time, so for me the most efficient way to Use Love Share is at vendor events. Being an educator, I’m comfortable with being in front of large groups of people and have noticed I work best in that environment. I’ve also signed up with local networking groups, including a weekly lunch group, a book club, and a monthly fundraiser group called “Women and Wine.” Whereas I had attended a few Beauty Bars hosted by fellow Consultants, I didn’t host my own till this last May. I don’t know why I waited so long because it was a huge success – I even booked a Beauty Bar for one of my Clients! My networking groups played a huge role in expanding my clientele list, thus making my Beauty Bar the success it turned out to be. Staying disciplined and focused on my business, attending networking meetings, following-up with Clients, and providing exceptional customer service have all been important factors in expanding my retail business and giving me a bigger weekly paycheck.

There’s many benefits to being an Apriori Beauty Consultant, but one of them is that there’s several ways to make money. Some Consultants are team builders, some are retailers, and some are both. For me, it starts with retailing, which I believe is the key to building my team. If a Client uses and loves the products, they may decide to become a Consultant and start building their own business. I’m really excited about the prospect of building a team because I love educating women about creating beautiful skin and showing them how it’s connected to their self-confidence. I consider beautiful skin part of health and wellness.

Since joining Apriori Beauty, I’ve experienced this wonderful community of women who are always going out of their way to support and help each other. Our community plus the fact that with Apriori Beauty, you can earn an unlimited income, sealed my decision to become a Consultant. At my age, you just can’t beat that!

When I was first approached by my good friend Kathy DeRango about Apriori Beauty’s opportunity, I hesitated. I was working full-time as a hair stylist and between work and family, I didn’t see room for anything new. I had tried the product samples she gave me and noticed a definite improvement in the way my skin looked and felt. Despite my reservations, I registered as a Client and two months later, I took the plunge and became an Independent Consultant. I didn’t know how I was going to fit this new business into my schedule, but I did know that I wanted to share these amazing products with my friends and family.

My retailing business has been a slow growing process due to my schedule. There have been many times where I’ve found myself discouraged because I’m not moving at the pace as some of my fellow Consultants, but I remind myself that we’re all on different paths with different lives, and as long as I set goals and stay positive, I can achieve anything! It’s funny because when I first became a Consultant back in 2011, I felt like I couldn’t do the business because of my full-time job. Flash forward to now, I have my full-time job at the salon, plus a part-time job on the side and my Apriori Beauty business. I’m busier now than I was in 2011, and yet my Apriori Beauty business is doing the best it’s ever done! Proof that despite your schedule, there is room to fit in a little here, and a little there. As long as you’re giving your business the attention it needs to grow, you will get results. It’s like a skincare regimen – if you don’t consistently use the products and take care of your skin, how can you expect it to improve?

Whereas I’m not able to share Apriori Beauty at my salon, I do have previous salon clients that I’ve been able to connect and share with. Samples play a huge role in gaining new Clients and sales. Once I’ve shared with a prospect and have put the product in their hands, I wait a few days and then follow-up with them. Knowing how I can be wrapped up with things and the last thing I would do is reach out and order skincare, it’s important that I’m the one to follow-up with my prospects, not the other way around. They have busy lives and unless I connect with them and ask their thoughts on the samples, I’m probably not going to hear from them. One thing I plan to start doing is coffee dates, which will allow me more time with prospective Clients, and give me more room to share the products. It’s all about stepping outside your comfort zone and not just doing what’s easy. I want take my business to the next level and with that comes commitment and creativity. 2015 is all about staying focused, creating goals, and putting my success out into the universe to be heard.

Apriori Beauty has taught me so much about healthy skincare and anti-aging. I’ve learned the role nutrition plays in gaining healthy skin, as well as the importance of using safe ingredients. Apriori Beauty provides us with endless amounts of tools for learning, not to mention the unbeatable Compensation Plan. As a Consultant, not only do I have access to incredible and effective products, but I also get a rebate on all my personal purchases (in addition to my weekly commissions). You hold the power to turn things around

It’s amazing how my Apriori Beauty business in January turned out considering how it began. From the first of the month, I was sick for three straight weeks, disabling me from giving attention to my Consultants and Clients. I had goals I planned on accomplishing, but with everything going on, it didn’t look like that was going to be happening. There was a certain point where I decided I wasn’t going to let January go wrong – I couldn’t control my health, but I could control what type of month my business was going to have. It was time to make something good come out of the month. With a week left before the start of February, I started reaching out to people I had given samples to but hadn’t followed-up with. Just by making a few calls and reconnecting with others, I was able to drum up business, gain new Clients (and orders), and turn a sluggish month into a successful one. I needed to have one thing in my life I could control and that one thing was my Apriori Beauty business. I started off January sick and unproductive, and left it healthy and accomplished. It goes to show that no matter what, you can turn things around – even if you have less than 7 days till the close of the month.

I’m a firm believer in launch parties to jumpstart your new Consultant’s business. There’s an excitement that ignites in your business and it spreads awareness to your friends and family. Unless you announce that you’re starting a new endeavor, it’s likely others won’t know about your business. When I did my launch party, it changed the way I looked at myself doing the business. I announced my business, and it forced me to be productive, and get things moving. This party provides the platform for you to not only share with friends, family, and acquaintances about your Apriori Beauty business, but potentially have them share with their friends and acquaintances. I’ve had guests come to parties of mine (as well as my Consultants’) who would have never tried Apriori Beauty unless they were at the party, hearing about the products and sampling them – and now they’re amazing Clients of mine, and some even became Consultants! You may have a huge turnout, you may just have one person. Either way, utilize that outcome to your advantage. If someone isn’t able to attend, reach out and ask if they’d like to meet one-on-one or try a sample. Chances are, they’re curious and want to know about the products. Not everyone has to host a launch party, but if you’re serious about your business, I encourage you to consider it.

I’m a fan of parties, can you tell? In addition to launch parties, I love hosting Beauty Bars. Presenting can be a daunting task, especially if you’re a newer Consultant and don’t know everything about the products; however, it doesn’t have to be overwhelming. I always tell my Consultants: keep it simple. Whether I’m hosting a party or talking to a friend, I speak from personal experience and reference Apriori Beauty’s product catalog and website when necessary. If you begin rattling off facts, people will zone out. They want to hear the results and what the products can do for them. Yes, there will be people with allergies who are interested in knowing the ingredients. When this situation occurs, I pull out my notebook, which includes a copy of every ingredient and which products they’re located in (courtesy of Apriori Beauty’s Science Center) and we go through the ingredients together. It’s become a major resource of mine and I’ve found that people appreciate that I’m prepared and have an answer for them directly from Apriori Beauty’s website. If we can’t locate that specific ingredient they’re inquiring about, it’s because it’s not found in any Apriori Beauty products (i.e. gluten). When you’re prepared, it adds trust to your relationship with that potential Client/Consultant. Remember, it’s about building relationships. Before a person buys the products or the business, they have to buy you first, and that requires trust.

Twenty-fifteen has already started off great and with Apriori Beauty’s Punta Cana Incentive Trip and the new $49 Starter Kit, my team and I are on fire! Living on the east coast with zero below temps and snow storms, all I can think about is laying on the beach in warm weather and relaxing in the sun with my Apriori sisters. I’m going to Punta Cana in November and I’ve declared I’m going there for free, which means between now and September, my team and I will be working together to grow our businesses and earning our way to that sandy beach. I’ll leave you with one question – where will you be in November?

When I joined Apriori Beauty in March of 2009, there weren’t any products yet. I couldn’t even pronounce its name at first, but I knew that I had to be a part of this Company. From day one, I’ve believed 100% in Apriori Beauty, its Founders, and its mission*. Throughout these past six years, I’ve seen my business grow alongside Apriori Beauty as our product selection has expanded and more people are being introduced to the benefits of using a safe and effective skincare line. I especially love the retailing side of this business because it puts right now money in my pocket every week!

My Kindergarten report card said, “Val is a social butterfly” and to be honest, not much has changed since then. I love talking to everyone I meet and this has been extremely helpful in growing my Apriori Beauty business. People always comment on how good my skin looks and I never fail to make it known that it’s because of our amazing products. When they see first-hand how effective Apriori Beauty is, they’re instantly interested because they know these products actually work and aren’t just false promises.

I never know where my newest Client will come from. It could be someone from the gym, grocery store, a colleague from the school I work at, or even a long lost cousin! I love wearing my Apriori Beauty tees and always take my Apriori Beauty Yoga Mat with me to yoga class. It’s easy to SHARE when people ask you, “What’s Apriori Beauty?” Meeting Clients is as simple as making that connection. But, these connections need to be real and from the heart. Are you more likely to trust a total stranger or someone you actually know and who is genuine? Make it a point to get to know your prospective Clients so they’re not just a random name you handed a sample to, but rather, a real person you can see yourself talking and connecting with on a regular basis.

When it comes to gaining new Clients, one of my favorite things to do is offer a Free Mini Facial. I’ve found this to be the perfect way to help qualify a prospective Client: Are they really interested in that sample? Will they use it? How can I get their information? The answer is the Free Mini Facial! I am guaranteed to get them USING and LOVING the products through this venue. I encourage them to bring a friend or two and advertise it as a ‘Girls Day/Night In!’ Remember, introducing the products to potential Clients is meant to be a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone.

In addition to getting the products on peoples’ faces, in order for me to maintain high sales, I need to be consistent. This may mean following up with Clients, offering them specials, or even running contests – as long as I’m connecting with my Clients on a consistent basis, my business remains steady and flowing with orders. In addition, it’s imperative you address the needs of your Clients. Not only will your Clients be happy and satisfied, your sales will automatically increase. Stop selling and start serving! At Apriori Beauty, we have something that people need and the better the customer service you provide, the better your business will grow.
