The “Day of Caring” was an event focused on uniting people together and promoting breast cancer awareness.  Education played an integral role with seminars and demonstrations being held throughout the day.  To top it off, a spectacular fashion show was put on, which featured breast cancer survivors as models, and famed author Judy Blume was the guest speaker, who gave a phenomenal speech.

I was honored to be invited and demonstrate our beautiful products to over 600 women!
I felt even more blessed after finding out that this event is exclusive to cancer survivors (including those displaying products). Imagine how proud I was to learn that our products had proven to be so pure and safe, that the committee waived their policy and invited us into this special group.

Fellow Apriori Beauty Consultant Sky Palma and I arrived that morning at 6:30am and within less than an hour, we were busy answering questions, handing out samples, serving chilled Lifeoxylin® Cellular Defense Elixir and sharing our products well into the afternoon. I have never talked so much or answered so many pointed questions in my life. Survivors understand the importance of pure, plant-based products and are extremely wise in their knowledge. We (and our products) passed the test with flying colors.

As a former professional dancer and choreographer who owned a competitive dance studio for over 10 years, I decided to slow down and concentrate on my personal life when I had my first son.  Shortly followed by a second son, my life has centered around family with focus on giving back to the community when I have a second to breathe.  I met Louri Boilard back when I owned the dance studio and when she first joined Apriori Beauty, she introduced me to the products and opportunity.  At the time, I remember telling her, “it’s a lovely presentation but I’m not doing this.”  Whereas I was looking for something new to get involved with, I didn’t foresee myself selling anything, let alone skin care products.  I was the type of person who would go to bed with a full face of makeup; taking care of my skin was not a priority.  Even though I had declined Louri’s initial invitation to become part of Apriori Beauty, that didn’t stop her from calling and checking up on me every now and then.  She has always been a constant in my life, encouraging and listening to me whenever I needed a friend.  I went on to explore a few different opportunities, including event planning, but none proved to be the one for me.

It wasn’t until I was in a car accident that my thoughts shifted into focus.  I looked in the mirror and didn’t recognize the woman looking back at me.  She was in sweats, covered in kid snot and milk.  A far cry from the Jenny in cocktail dresses and heels that I was used to.  I forgot who I was and what my business goals were.  I decided to call Louri.  “Okay,” I said into the phone, “I’m ready to hear about this business opportunity again.”  I sat down with her and asked every question possible.  I had all the excuses lined up for why Apriori Beauty wasn’t for me, but with every answer she shared, those excuses diminished.  There was so much more depth to the business than I had originally thought.   To me, skincare was superficial, but my view changed when I realized it’s so much more than that.  It’s about looking and feeling good and giving someone an opportunity to be emotionally and financially successful.  After months of restless nights, I went home and had the best night’s sleep of my life.

I joined Apriori Beauty because I wanted something new and meaningful in my life. I ended up using, loving and sharing the products like crazy.  I was someone who never took care of my skin and now, I can’t get enough of it.  I find myself looking forward to washing my face and pampering myself with facials.  It’s easy to share when you’re behind the products 110%.  My husband started taking samples to work with him and sharing with employees, who quickly became Clients of mine.  In addition, I shared the opportunity with friends and former work colleagues.  I love being my own boss and doing something for myself. They trusted my work ethic and integrity and signed up as Consultants.  Sponsoring Consultants has helped me re-establish friendships that had fallen to the wayside.  It’s provided opportunities for me to spend time with girlfriends that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to.

There’s so many aspects of this business that I cherish.  I have two kids under the age of five, so my Apriori Beauty time is scheduled in during nap and bedtime. I follow-up with prospects while the kids are asleep and take full advantage of Facebook by connecting and networking with friends and new prospects.  I don’t have to hold a party to be successful in retail sales, I just have to trek the little ones to the post office and mail out samples.  I’m not a sales person and I don’t have to be.  I’m thrilled about Apriori Beauty’s products and it shows when I share with people, but it doesn’t mean that Clients and Consultants just fall in my lap without any effort.  You have to work, you have to follow-up with your contacts, and be business-minded to a certain degree.  One huge advantage we have over department stores is our customer service.  The lady behind the Lancome counter won’t call you Sunday to see how you’re doing and ask you if you have any questions.  They aren’t able to go to your house and give you quality one-on-one time; providing product demonstrations and assisting you with any needs you have.  No, that is why Apriori Beauty is the full package.  We have the products, we have the business opportunity, but more importantly, we have each other.  Apriori Beauty Consultants are generous with their time.  Each Consultant holds a wealth of information that they’re willing to share with anyone that asks.  We’re here for one another!

My sponsor, Louri Boilard has shown me what it means to be an Apriori Beauty Consultant.  She didn’t give up on me and believed Apriori Beauty would be something wonderful for me. While I wouldn’t consider myself a success story just yet, I am thrilled with the feedback and sales that I have created from my Clients. When I first signed-up as a Consultant, I listened to my manager, Paula Yudelevit, who advised “don’t be stingy with samples, but don’t give them everything either.”  When I tell people about Apriori Beauty, it is clear how much I love it because of my excitement for the product. Plus, they can see the results in my skin!  I rave about the all-natural benefits, as well as the amazingly fresh scent. I always start off with recommending my most absolute, favorite product, the Enzyme Activated Micro Scrub and then build from there (trouble areas, specific skin care need, etc).  Once a Client orders one product, they are forever hooked.

Since I am a full-time mom and work a full-time job, I never know when I’m going to meet a potential Client.  In fact, I’ve met a lot of my Clients through my little girls.  When we’re at the Dr.’s office, at dance practice, or even the park, I always incorporate it into my conversations with other parents and make sure I have samples in my bag to hand out.  Even my baby-sitters are hooked on the ProDeramlin line!  I have several of my mommy friends who love the Apriori Beauty products, but are waiting until they can afford it.  As a mother myself, I completely understand putting skin care on hold while your budget is consumed with baby formula and diapers; however, I inform them that I used to focus solely on the kids with regard to my budget until I decided that my face is the one thing I have that is going to be with me through life and that it’s about time that I started taking care of me and that I am worth it!  It’s amazing how much that statement resonates with some of my clients.  We may not buy the $500 shoes, but it doesn’t mean we can’t splurge on ourselves with products here and there.  In addition, I am still in that phase of my life where a lot of my friends are having babies. When pregnant or nursing, it’s a constant struggle trying to find products that are safe and not harmful for you or the baby. Apriori Beauty is an easy sell for this when they hear it’s all-natural and you can use as much as you want without worry!

As stated earlier, my go-to product is the Enzyme Activated Micro Scrub, I just can’t rave enough about this glorious product!  I give potential Clients a sample and recommend mixing it with the Celloxylin Crème Cleanse – an amazing combination!  Plus, the amount of product you get for the price is unbeatable.  When Clients see the size of the scrub and then hear how it’s only $38, they’re speechless!

  • Hi everyone!
  • I actually sponsored 5 new Consultants last month!!
  • I spent the last year researching companies and skincare products
  • When Lisa contacted me out of the blue, she asked if I would be interested in trying a sample and looking at the opportunity
  • I told her I would try the sample and if I liked it, we could talk about the opportunity
  • When the sample came, I used it for 3-4 nights and was literally trying to squeeze every last drop out of it
  • I wanted to order the set … I liked it and wanted to try it for longer
  • I told Lisa not to get excited
  • While waiting for the set, I searched the website and Lisa and I started talking
  • With everything she was sharing, plus I knew I already liked the products, I got excited
  • She told me about the compensation plan, which completely blew me away
  • I told her I wanted to try every single product before committing to anything, so the next day, I ordered the All-in-one!
  • Meanwhile, I was tracking my Starter Kit and set order, I was so excited

  • I didn’t even have labels or business cards or anything like it yet
  • After only a couple of weeks, Lisa told me I was close to Manager
  • Ok, I’ll go for it! I started emailing people, I called people, I Facebook messaged people
  • Some people even bought without trying it because they trusted me
  • Now April is set up because I sent out so many more samples in March
  • People who weren’t able to come to my launch have even offered to do a party for me, which I wasn’t planning on doing
  • People want to try it because they hear the excitement in my voice
  • Then I learned that I had earned the new products and the DFI, I went first step Manager and I was a Top 5 retailer last week!
  • I have no idea what most of that means, at this point!
  • When I started with this, all I knew is what I felt about the products and what it did for me
  • I knew that there were great owners of this company because of how much they give
  • They answered the phone when I called customer service, and they are so willing to help!
  • I just know that I am in the right place, at the right time
  • I couldn’t be more excited, I don’t know how anyone couldn’t love these products and this company … to be a part of it
  • I am so excited for my future
  • I haven’t had this feeling in so long
  • I feel the fire, the passion is there
  • I’m excited to share this with everybody
  • I have a whole new pile of samples ready to go out

Share Don't Sell Feature

Share, Don’t Sell

Recently I was on the phone with a new Consultant, Sari.   As we started talking, I asked her why she decided to join Apriori Beauty.  She replied, “I didn’t join to sell the products, I joined because I love the products!”  Just by listening to Sari, I could tell that her business approach was based on passion, not numbers.  There’s that word again, “passion.”  You’ve heard me say it before and most likely, you’ll hear it from me again.  Passion is what drives us and is the monumental factor in steering our business.  Apriori Beauty consists of passionate Consultants, not sales representatives.

The idea of selling is daunting to most, which is why I urge you to share, not sell.  When outlining your approach to business building, first remember why you use Apriori Beauty.  What is it about the products you love?  Why do you use these products and not others?  Share what you use and love, and others will want it.  By sharing, you’re relieving yourself of the unnecessary pressure of “I need to sell a product.”  Instead, your mindset goes to “I love X product and I want to share it with everyone I know!”

So, now that you know to share what you love, how do you go about sharing?  First, give your Clients samples to try and share with their friends.  When I asked Sari what her approach was, she relayed that when she gives out a sample, she asks them to take a before picture and to try the products for three days.  If after three days they don’t see any results, they’re instructed not to call her.  Bold!  Handing a sample to a potential Client and saying, “if you don’t see results in three days, then don’t call me,” shows you believe in the products and want to help them, not yourself.  Apriori Beauty may not be the skin solution for some, but for 95%, it is.  And by the way, Sari said that she has yet to hand over a sample with no results.

Your business stems from passion, but it’s utilizing the retailing tools that will help develop and expand your business.  There are only so many people in your immediate circle you can share with, so once you’ve tapped out of that circle, start focusing on referrals.  Give your friends Turn Back Time Capsules to share with their friends and let them know that if their friend places a $75+ order, you’ll give them a $25 gift card for their next order.  You’ll not only gain a new Client, but ensure a second order from an existing Client.

Second, take advantage of the 3-Gets-1 Free Set options.  There’s two popular ways you can utilize this deal.  You can purchase all three products (get one free) and sell all 4, thereby gaining 47.5% in commission, instead of the usual 30%!

Example:
Celloxylin Eye+Lip Age Erase 3G1F set
Item #004F, retail value = $180 (4@45 each)
You purchased all four items for $135 ($94.50 after rebate)
You sell all four items for $45 each (Total Sales $180)
$180 – $94.50 = you make $85.50 (47.5% commission)

Or, you can reward your Client with the 3-Gets-1-Free Sets.  Do you have a Client who would love a free 30-Day Celloxylin set?  Propose this: “If you introduce me to 3 friends who purchase a 30-Day set, I will give you one for FREE!”  Who doesn’t want the opportunity to win something for free?  Create a fun, creative way for everyone to experience the products.  Hosting a girls day and sharing what you love is a lot more effective than locking someone in your car till they place an order.

So you’ve shared, sold, and now you’ve signed up a new Consultant.  Now it’s time to focus on your new Consultant by working closely with them for their first 30 days.  By teaching them, they in turn will teach their new Consultants, thus establishing a strong and effective team.  Walk your new Consultant through their Starter Kit and Back Office.  Help them get signed up for their Payoneer card.  There’s nothing more motivating than getting paid!  Lastly, let your new Consultant know you’re there to support them.  Team building starts with support and being a new Consultant, they will need your support now more than ever.

Remember, this is your business and it’s meant to be fun!  Hard work and dedication is a must but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy sharing these amazing products you use and love.

What Makes A Successful Leader?

S.TwellmanThe term “leader” encompasses a broad description with vast and multiple components.  There’s historic and memorable leaders (both good and bad ones), as well as leaders in our personal and every-day lives that will never be mentioned in history or social media.  The fact of the matter is, you’re a leader.  The question is: are you an inefficient or successful leader?

I personally don’t look at myself as a leader, but with 6 kids and several companies, I know I am one.  I mean, I have to be, right?  As a leader, you need PASSION.  You have to care about what you’re doing and who you’re doing it with because if you don’t, it will show, trust me!  How can you expect someone else to follow you if you’re not even enthusiastic about what you’re doing?  I take extremely good care of myself and am very selective about what I put into and on my body.  If I fall in love with a pair of jeans or skincare product (always Apriori Beauty of course!), I share and tell everyone about it.  Take for instance, Apriori Beauty’s motto “Use, Love, Share.”  It’s that simple; if you lead with passion, others will follow.

The next essential component of a successful leader is AUTHENTICITY.  Be who you are and be genuine all the time.  Otherwise, you’ll be scrambling trying to recall which “mask” to wear when confronted with a situation or individual.  Besides, people want to see the real you, not the fake persona you assume they want.  Maybe it’s my personality or the fact I have 6 kids and have no room in my brain to develop several personas, but I can assure you that I am myself 100% of the time.  If I’ve ever talked with you, I’m sure you’ve heard random tidbits and facts about my life.  It’s who I am and because I’m comfortable being myself (do I have a choice?), people know that no matter when or where they see me, they will be speaking with the one and only Susan Twellman.  Not mom Susan or Apriori Susan.  Just Susan.

CREDITABILTIY.  You must, I repeat, must be credible and true to your word.  As a leader, if you say you’re going to do something, do it.  Your success as a leader is dependent upon the trust of others.  If you’re consistently breaking commitments and dropping the ball, your team’s trust in you will quickly vanish.  Here’s where accountability comes into play.  Remember, you’re not alone, especially as a leader.  You have an entire team here, ready and willing to help you if you need it.  Make sure you have someone keeping you accountable, which will in turn maintain you as a credible leader.

We all make mistakes and will continue to do so until the day we die.  We’re human, it’s what we do.  However, as a successful leader, the trick is to LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES.  Go back and analyze the situation(s).  What went wrong?  Could it have been prevented?  What will you do differently the next time you’re presented with this situation?  Utilize the lessons you’ve gained through trial and error and turn them into examples when leading your team.  Your mistakes can prove to be valuable lessons and learning experiences.  The key is to admit your wrong doings and learn from them, not repeat them.

Your business will throw you curve balls, and when it does, your ATTITUDE will either make or break your team.  You can’t control others, but you can control yourself.  Whenever you’re feeling frustrated and reaching your breaking point, focus on maintaining a positive attitude.  The more positive your attitude is, the stronger your confidence will be.  The stronger your confidence is, the stronger your team will be.

The best thing you can do as a leader is GIVE.  Give your time, commitment, knowledge, assistance, guidance, and especially, patience!  Your team will not only appreciate your support, but will also gain and grow from it as well.  At Apriori Beauty, we’re all about sharing and helping one another.  Take for instance, the Facebook group “Team United.”  Every Monday, a different Consultant holds a conference call and shares ideas and tips on how to develop and expand your business.  How cool is that?  It doesn’t have to be “me” against “you” and it isn’t.  We’re all in this together and the more you learn and grow, I do as well.  Another great example, my weekly “Walk the Talk,” which we’re doing right now!  I love sharing and bonding with other women.  We have so many talented and diverse women in this group, who each bring something to the table.  I learn just as much from you as you learn from me.  Again, it’s a win/win situation!

I want to leave you with one last thought.  The most crucial and significant aspect of a successful leader is ETHICS.  As a leader, you will be tested LeadByExamplemore times than you can imagine.  It’s in these instances where your core values and beliefs will determine your actions and ultimately grow or weaken your team.  Some people are under the misconception that they have to sacrifice ethics for success.  Wrong!  Yes, you may lose a Client or even a Consultant over a disagreement, and if you do because you stayed true to your values, then that is what’s best for your team.  At the end of the day, it’s you who has to look in the mirror, no one else.  When confronted with a difficult situation, remember your passion and why you became a leader in the first place.  Seek guidance and support from team members and accountability partners.  And lastly, be yourself and no one else.
